Dr. Marco Massoni is a researcher, academic, and international consultant specialising in African studies, governance, and intercultural philosophy. Of Italian and Cape Verdean nationality, he holds a PhD in Philosophy and Social Sciences Theory from the University of Roma Tre and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität of Munich, following a Master’s degree in Political Philosophy from Roma Tre University and the Université Libre de Bruxelles.

With over 25 years of professional experience, Dr. Massoni has worked with major international institutions including the European Commission, the European External Action Service (EEAS), the OSCE/ODIHR, the United Nations, and the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES), for which he conducted several external evaluations of electoral projects in countries such as Ethiopia and Mali.

He has also served as a diplomatic advisor to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, contributing to the Italian Presidency of the G8 and working on Euro-African partnerships, peace, and security issues across the continent.

As an academic, he lectures at LUISS Guido Carli University in Rome, where he teaches courses on African politics and governance, and collaborates with institutions such as the European University Institute in Florence and the Centre International de Formation Européenne (CIFE).

Dr. Massoni is an active member of several scholarly associations, including the Philosophical Society of Southern Africa and the Society for Intercultural Philosophy in Cologne. He also serves as editor-in-chief of the journal Politica Africana and has authored numerous publications on Africa–Europe relations, contemporary African philosophy, and continental geopolitics.

Fluent in seven languages—including Italian, French, English, Portuguese, and Cape Verdean Creole—Dr. Massoni continues to contribute his expertise to advancing intercultural dialogue, democracy, and Euro-African cooperation.
