Ana joined ECES in December 2019 as Administration and Financial Adviser to deliver day-to-day management support that may assure an effective, efficient and compliant workflow leading to the achievement of the organization’s and its partners’ mandate and objectives. Based in Brussels, Ana follows-up closely the financial progress of projects in permanent tandem with the Coordination Teams deployed in partner countries.

She is an accomplished officer, with significant and comprehensive know-how on project management support, consolidated through an experience of over 10 years with EU-funded projects, implemented both by NGOs and public offices in multicultural environments.

Ana holds a BSc in Sociology, attended a BA in International Relations and a MSc in Intercultural Relations and is currently finishing her MSc in International Development Cooperation. Her academic background is strengthened with certifications in Training Management, Gender Issues, Team Management, Coaching and Empowerment, and Results-based Management. A native Portuguese speaker, she is fluent in English, and an intermediate French, Spanish and Tetum user.

Her first contact with a project cycle management approach dates from 2004 when she started working in NGOs. While engaging directly with different stakeholders, promoting activities with target-groups and social-awareness-raising events, as well as articulating with partner organizations and enterprises or meeting with donors and fulfilling compliance and reporting obligations, she acquired budgeting, fundraising, communication and operations managing.

Later, as a desk officer in two Public Administration institutions, Ana further developed these skills and her expertise in financial regulations and procedures implied in the implementation of EU funded actions (EIF/SOLID and EDF), such as procurement support, expenditure eligibility or audit follow-up.

Ana was part of the Management Unit of a Delegated Cooperation project managed and implemented by the Portuguese National Development Agency – Camões, I.P. – in Timor-Leste, as financial adviser, based both at headquarters and in the field.

She has also had the opportunity to join the European Delegation to Timor-Leste as Programme Officer, monitoring operations related to Good Governance and Civil Society Organizations and involved in the desk review and draft of a national Gender Analysis to base the delegation’s Gender Action Plan II.
