Ambachew Deresse is a highly skilled social science expert with extensive experience in program planning, team management, monitoring and evaluation (including RBM, TOC, Outcome Mapping), CSO support, governance, accountability, and humanitarian and resilience programs. With a proven track record in both international NGOs and government organizations, Ambachew has successfully led diverse programs, managing budgets, teams, and complex projects focused on governance, human rights, and community development.

He currently serves as an Independent Consultant, providing capacity-building support to civil society organizations and electoral stakeholders, including national leadership training and strategic planning facilitation. Ambachew has previously held senior roles such as Senior Political and CSOs Expert at the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES), Program Quality Country Coordinator at Oxfam International Ethiopia, and Deputy Head of MEAL at Save the Children International/Ethiopia, among others. He has extensive experience designing M&E frameworks, conducting impact assessments, facilitating trainings, and supporting program quality and accountability initiatives.

Ambachew holds a Master’s degree in Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation with a specialization in Urban Planning and Management from the University of Twente, a BA in Geography from Addis Ababa University, and is pursuing a Master’s in Electoral Policy and Administration through the University of Santa’Anna in collaboration with IDEA and UNITAR. He combines technical expertise in GIS, SPSS, and digital data collection tools with leadership and strategic skills, making him a key contributor to program design, evaluation, and civil society capacity strengthening.
