Our Founder and Executive Director, Fabio Bargiacchi, was recently interviewed by Italian news channel SKY TG24, where he spoke about our ongoing efforts to support journalists in Guinea, with the support of the European Union and in partnership with Imagine Foundation.
As part of the Project to Support the Strengthening of Democracy in the Republic of Guinea (PARD Guinea), ECES has implemented training sessions for over 800 journalists across the country. Designed in response to the needs expressed the Guinean media professionals, the trainings aimed to strengthen the technical, ethical, and strategic capacities of journalists ahead of the constitutional referendum scheduled for September 2025. During his interview, Fabio Bargiacchi also highlighted the importance of bringing comparative experiences to local journalists, especially in the areas of television reporting and social networks.
For the past three years, ECES has closely collaborated with civil society organisations in Guinea to support the media environment. Through PARD Guinea have not only provided capacity-building for journalists but also promoted dialogue between media actors, electoral stakeholders, and institutions with the creation of a media code of conduct, support for local media outlets in conflict-sensitive reporting, and initiatives to counter disinformation and hate speech.
