Bolivia is holding the 2025 general elections today, 17 August. ECES, implementing the FPI (Foreign Policy Instrument) EU-funded project PRO-Elección Bolivia, has supported the process since February to enhance election integrity and capacities for analysing and preventing electoral conflictivity.
To this end, ECES partners with key election stakeholders such as the Electoral Supreme Court, the Ombudsman, domestic observers Observa Bolivia and civil society organisations to bolster their specific roles and mandates in promoting integrity and preventing conflict.

Over E-Day week, ECES President Monica Frassoni accompanies the ECES team on the latest activities and engagements with key actors.
E-Day started early at the TSE official launch with authorities, international and national observers and the international community. The ECES team visited polling stations where our local staff voted. We visited the Ombudsman and and Observa Bolivia Situation Rooms, both supported technically and financially by ECES, to collect and analyse data from polling stations across Bolivia.
The ECES team will end the E-Day at the TSE’s Preliminary Results Centre, which we've supported in strategic communication to foster trust and integrity and analyse E-Day’s performance with our strategic partners.
The PRO-Elección project is part of the EU's leading efforts to support democracy and human rights across the 2025 and 2026 Bolivian electoral processes. The EU’s Foreign Policy Instrument funds the EU Election Observation Mission (EOM) Bolivia 2025 and ECES electoral technical assistance, while the EU Delegation supports several key election initiatives by national stakeholders.
