ECES is pleased to announce the launch of a new project in support to the Indian Ocean Community (IOC). The new programme will be implemented in collaboration with the French Media Development Agency (CFI). Funded by the French Development Agency (AFD), the project will run for 54 months, with the overall objective of supporting the IOC in implementing the "Peace, Stability and Governance" project, by strengthening capacities of its staff to fully assume the role of advocacy and coordination of the project, thereby ensuring sustainability.
The project aims to provide technical assistance to the IOC General Secretariat by supporting the steering, coordination and implementation of the Peace, Stability and Governance project. It will propose systematic and coherent actions adapted to the specific needs and contexts of each Member State, as well as encouraging regional initiatives. Key actions of the programme will accompany every aspect of the electoral and will target the the crisis prevention and mediation, and the democratic governance at the regional level, including parliamentary diplomacy, public mobilisation/awareness and media work, and capacity building of institutions and Civil Society Organisations.
The experts in charge of supporting the implementation of the Project are : Eva PALMANS, ECES Head of Programmes and Ressources Mobilisation as Project Coordinator (K1), Gorka GAMARRA, ECES Senior Electoral expert as Institutional Support Expert (K2) and Jean-Luc MOOTOOSAMY from CFI as a Media Expert (K3). Short-term experts with specific thematic and regional experience will be mobilised to support the implementation of activities at both regional and national level.
