At the beginning of this week, the Municipal Forum for Political Dialogue towards the 2026 Municipal Elections was held in the Cochabamba Department, Bolivia. It was convened by the Coordinating Committee for Women (Coordinadora de la Mujer) and women, youth and LGBTIQ+ organisations with the objective to create a space for dialogue with candidates running for mayor in the municipality of Cercado, the capital city of the department.
With our support and as part of the Present in History Movement, the organisations presented the Municipal Agenda from a Women's Perspective, for a Cochabamba with equality, demanding the inclusion of their proposals and the transformation of electoral promises into concrete policies.
The women leaders presented their proposals on the following key areas:
- economic justice and a care society;
- environmental justice;
- social justice and a life free from violence;
- bodily autonomy and sexual and reproductive rights;
- parity and intercultural democracy.
The Forum also included the participation of political candidates, such as Jhon Mendoza from the Revolutionary Left Front (FRI), Javier Molina from Free Alliance, Tiffanie Pardo from United Homeland, Javier Bellot for Solutions for All and Rocío Molina for Unity.
At the end of the event, the candidates signed a political commitment to implement the demands received if they will be elected, marking their effort to improve women’s enjoyment of their civic rights, ensuring their access and participation to Bolivian political life.
Through the support to similar activities, at ECES, we make sure that all voices are able to be heard, allowing a correct realization of democratic values.
