As part of the Parliamentary and Electoral Process Support Project (PAPPE), funded by the European Union and implemented by ECES, a training workshop was held on 6 August 2025 at the Hotel l'Amitié in N'Djamena. This session aimed to strengthen the capacities of national institutions in the field of electronic archive management.

The beneficiaries – the Supreme Court, the Constitutional Council, ANGE and Parliament – are faced with large volumes of physical archives, which need to be digitised to preserve institutional memory and improve the transparency of public administration.

Twenty-four participants, including six women (archivists and IT specialists) from partner institutions, were trained through a programme combining theory, feedback and interactive exchanges. The topics covered were:

  • Techniques for classifying and sorting physical archives;
  • Key steps in setting up an electronic archiving system;
  • Technical prerequisites, data security and governance;
  • Strategic challenges of digitisation for institutional modernisation.

This workshop is part of a broader effort to promote good governance, transparency and institutional efficiency in Chad. By developing the technical skills of key actors, the PAPPE project is actively contributing to strengthening the foundations of a more inclusive, modern and resilient democratic system.
