The Civil Society Organizations Consultation Framework (CCOSC) is continuing to roll out multi-stakeholder forums dedicated to engaging civil society and communities in civic participation and democratic governance in Chad.
As part of this second phase, two missions were deployed simultaneously last week in the provinces of Guéra and Ouaddaï.
This initiative is organized with the support of the Project to Support Parliament and Electoral Processes (PAPPE), implemented by ECES with funding from the European Union.
The multi-stakeholder forums aim, in particular, to strengthen spaces for dialogue between citizens, civil society organizations, and public institutions; to promote access to information and accountability; and to encourage more active community participation in decision-making processes.
In the province of Guéra, the mission, led by the Deputy Spokesperson of the CCOSC, paid a courtesy call on the Government Delegate General for the province of Guéra, who was accompanied by the Provincial Secretary General and the Chief of Staff to the Delegate General. This meeting allowed the head of the mission to present to provincial authorities the objectives of the multi-stakeholder forum as well as the planned schedule for its proceedings.
The various sessions bring together administrative and municipal authorities, decentralized government agencies, civil society organizations, community and religious leaders, the media, academics, as well as representatives of women, youth, and people with disabilities.
Discussions will focus in particular on citizen advocacy, public accountability, participatory budget monitoring, community communication, citizen-led monitoring and evaluation, and mechanisms for inclusive participation.
Through these forums, participants are also called upon to identify challenges specific to their communities, highlight best practices, and formulate recommendations likely to strengthen local governance.
Local roadmaps and action plans are expected to be produced at the conclusion of the forums to clarify the commitments and responsibilities of the various stakeholders.
Through this initiative, the CCOSC and its partners are contributing to the strengthening of more participatory, inclusive, transparent, and accountable governance, based on increased dialogue between citizens, civil society, and public institutions.
