As part of the EURECS II Project, which is jointly funded by the European Union and the Federal Republic of Germany, the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) organizes a four-day LEAD-Artificial Intelligence Pilot Training Workshop from October 7–10, 2025, in Addis Ababa. This initiative constitutes a key component of ECES’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the institutional capacity of electoral stakeholders in Ethiopia. The LEAD-AI training is specifically designed to raise awareness and build foundational knowledge on the transformative potential of Artificial Intelligence within electoral processes.
Throughout the sessions, participants explore how AI can enhance leadership effectiveness by enabling evidence-based decision-making, improving communication strategies, and supporting strategic planning in electoral management. In addition, significant emphasis is placed on the practical applications of AI across the entire electoral cycle—including voter registration, civic and voter education, logistics management, results transmission, and post-election analysis. Participants in the workshop were drawn from the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), the Police University College, and Coalition of Civil Society Organization for Elections (CECOE).
