Happy Zero Discrimination Day!

At ECES, our commitment is to tackle inequality and discrimination worldwide. We are convinced that we cannot achieve sustainable development if people are excluded from the chance of a better life. Within our electoral assistance missions, we ensure that we organise awareness-raising workshops, especially for women, young people and people with disabilities (PwD).

Zero Discrimination Day is celebrated by the Joint United Nations Programme on HIV and AIDS (UNAIDS) on the 1st of March, in order to “highlight the urgent need to take action to end the inequalities surrounding income, sex, age, health status, occupation, disability, sexual orientation, drug use, gender identity, race, class, ethnicity and religion that continue to persist around the world”. In 2015, all countries pledged to reduce inequality within and between countries as part of the Sustainable Development Goals.

In the current context of the global pandemic, which is hitting the most vulnerable the hardest, ECES would like to celebrate cooperation and cohesion by reminding that inequality exacerbates the risk of division and hampering economic and social development.

Discrimination affects all of us, no matter who we are or where we are from!
