5th Edition of the Effective Electoral Assistance Course in Milan

On Friday 29 November 2013, the 5th edition of the ISPI Advanced Diploma on Effective Electoral Assistance closed. The training, organized by ECES in partnership with the Istituto per gli Studi di Politica Internazionale (ISPI), took place at ISPI headquarters in Milan, Italy from 25-29 November.
 
During the five days, participants from Tajikistan, Maldives, Ethiopia, Bulgaria, Kenya and Italy took part to this intense training delivered by ECES. Experts such as Raphaël Pouyé, previous ECES Senior Electoral and Strategic Advisor (from France), Eric Tourrés, ECES Vice President (from Belgium) and Jarek Domanski, Research Scholar at Harvard University (from Poland) provided participants with a comprehensive overview of the recent developments in the fields of electoral assistance and election observation.
 
The agenda focused on several relevant topics, such as  the guiding principles of electoral observation, the electoral cycle approach as well as the formulation, implementation and evaluation of an Electoral Assistance Project. The importance of the media in electoral processes and the importance of media monitoring in election observation was also developed through the participation of Mirella Marchese, a Media Monitoring Expert at Osservatorio di Pavia, an institute specialised in media analysis.
