As part of the PACEM-Gabon project, funded by the European Union, the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) organized a training session for journalists in Port Gentil from March 10 to 12, 2025. The event brought together 25 participants from various media outlets, both public and private. The aim of this training was to strengthen the capacities of journalists so that they are well prepared to cover the upcoming elections.
During these two days of training, participants explored several key topics:
🔹 Best practices for media coverage of elections, and the need for fair and balanced media coverage
🔹 The prevention of hate speech
🔹 Techniques for detecting fake news
🔹 The approach of conflict-sensitive journalism, with a particular emphasis on the representation of young people and women
