PAPPE, the European Union and the European Centre for Electoral Support strengthen the technical capacities of private radio stations in Abéché.

A training session for technicians from private radio stations is taking place in Abéché from 24 to 28 November. Supported by the Project to Support Parliament and Electoral Processes (PAPPE), funded by the European Union and implemented by the European Centre for Electoral Support, the initiative aims to strengthen the technical skills essential for the daily operation of local stations.

Twenty technicians from various provinces are taking part in a programme covering:

  • basic radio engineering,
  • sound recording,
  • use of Adobe Audition,
  • digital broadcasting,
  • equipment maintenance,
  • technical management of a studio.

The sessions combine theoretical inputs, hands-on exercises and real-case troubleshooting, allowing participants to work directly on the challenges they face in the field, such as frequent breakdowns, limited equipment and unstable electricity supply.

Through this training, PAPPE, the European Union and the European Centre for Electoral Support are helping strengthen the operational capacity of community radio stations—support that enables them to continue informing, engaging and connecting communities, including in the most remote areas.
