In the context of the project “Support to the electoral process in Chad” ECES is proud to announce the launch of a new website specifically dedicated to the implementation of the project activities.

The Chad Electoral Support Project is a technical assistance project implemented by ECES and funded by the European Union. The action aims to contribute to the return to constitutional order and sustainable democratic transformation in Chad, with a view to promoting internal and regional stability.

The project will support and accompany the key actors in the post-transition electoral process, particularly the bodies in charge of organising and managing the elections, notably the Independent National Electoral Commission (CENI) and the Permanent Elections Office (BPE). In this sense, the institutional capacities of the beneficiaries will be strengthened, and they will be supported in planning, defining priorities and in taking into account the preconditions for the main operations.

This action aims to strengthen the capacities of the CENI and the BPE to fulfil their mandate and to organise credible, transparent and inclusive elections at the end of the transition. Targeted interventions at the different levels of the EMBs are envisaged, which are essential to the achievement of the specific objectives of the project, in particular:

  • Support the timely holding of a constitutional referendum;
  • Support the organisation of a free, inclusive, credible electoral process (presidential elections) in accordance with international standards, to end the political transition in Chad.
