On July, 28, 2025, marks the first day of activities concerning the integration of themes from the African Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance (ACDEG) into the national school curricula taking place Guinea Bissau from 28th to 31st July 2025. This activity takes place in the framework of ECES’ Pro-Electoral Integrity project, in partnership with the African Union Commission’s Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security (AUC-PAPS) and funded by the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, whom we warmly thank for the work we are able to do and their continued support.
This workshop brings together technical experts from the African Union Commission, regional specialists, and national stakeholders in the education and governance sectors. The primary objective of this meeting is to select key themes on Democracy and Good Citizenship for inclusion in Guinea Bissau’s national curricula, and to produce the country document that will guide the implementation phase.
This important milestone reflects the AU’s ongoing commitment to strengthening democratic values and civic education through inclusive, context-driven learning. The results of this workshop will shape the training of educational staff and the development of pedagogical materials for schools across the country.
