In the context of the project “Governance Peace and Stability (GPS)” ECES is proud to announce the launch of a new website specifically dedicated to the implementation of the project activities.

The project "Governance Peace and Stability (GPS)" was initiated by the Indian Ocean Commission (IOC), an intergovernmental organisation which includes the Union of Comoros, France (on behalf of Reunion Island), Madagascar, Mauritius and Seychelles, has received the support of the Agence Française de Développement (AFD). The project has an implementation period of 54 months and is financed by AFD .

The GPS project, implemented by the Indian Ocean Commission as project owner, aims to contribute to governance, peace and stability in the Indian Ocean region and within the IOC Member States while respecting the sovereignty of States and the principle of subsidiarity. The overall objective of the technical assistance mission provided by the European Centre for Electoral Support and CFI Media Development is to support the IOC in the implementation of the project by strengthening its team and capacities in order to fully assume the advocacy and coordination role of the project and ensure its sustainability. Technical assistance is also responsible for the recruitment of specific short-term experts for the implementation of the activities identified by the project.

The IOC builds on the bonds of solidarity, proximity and similar characteristics between its Member States to prevent conflicts, maintain peace and security, consolidate democracy, the rule of law and good governance and provide appropriate responses to specific problems in the region.
