As part of its efforts to promote human rights and strengthen collaboration with civil society, the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) organized a day of discussion with human rights organizations (ADH) on July 31, 2025, in N'Djamena.
This initiative, organized as part of the Parliamentary and Electoral Process Support Project (PAPPE), is funded by the European Union and implemented by the European Center for Electoral Support (ECES). It is part of a broader effort to strengthen democratic governance in Chad by supporting national institutions and civil society organizations committed to guaranteeing fundamental freedoms and contributing to the sustainable consolidation of democracy.
Although it has a strong mandate, the CNDH is still little known to some state and non-state actors. This meeting provided an opportunity to raise awareness of its missions, discuss human rights challenges in Chad, and identify mutual expectations.
The day was structured around thematic presentations and open discussions. Participants emphasized the need for cooperation based on transparency, trust, and professionalism.
Three major outcomes are expected: greater visibility for the CNDH, mutual understanding of roles, and the establishment of a framework for sustainable collaboration. The event brought together around 50 participants from the CNDH, civil society organizations, and actors committed to the defense of human rights.
