The Projet d'Appui au Renforcement de la Démocratie en République de Guinée (PARD-Guinée) is financed by the European Union through the Neighbourhood, Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI). The project will run for 24 months and has been funded to the tune of €4.8 million.

The project is being implemented by the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES), which is a non-partisan, not-for-profit foundation based in Brussels whose corporate purpose includes electoral and democratic strengthening through the provision of advisory services, operational support via innovative financial and project management methodologies at the global level.

The overall objective of the project is to support the ongoing transition process in the Republic of Guinea for a peaceful return to constitutional order.

More specifically, the project will:

  • Support the key players in the transition in all phases of preparing and organising the electoral polls to return the country to constitutional order.
  • Will encourage the participation of civil societý in the transition, promoting a dialogue between it and the transition authorities.
  • Strengthen the capacities of Guinean political parties with a view to the planned electoral polls, with particular attention to the prevention of electoral violence, the definition of political programmes and the preparation of electoral campaigns, as well as strengthening the participation of women and young people as candidates.
  • Organise nationwide information and awareness-raising campaigns for citizens on the stages of the transition, for a peaceful return to constitutional order and for an inclusive, violence-free electoral process.
