From 10 to 12 February 2026, at the Hôtel de l'Amitié in N'Djamena, the Parliamentary and Electoral Process Support Project (PAPPE), funded by the European Union and implemented by the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES), is organising a strategic training course on United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325 and its National Action Plan Concept Note.
This initiative is part of PAPPE's objective to promote inclusive democratic governance in Chad in the post-transition context, by strengthening the transparency of electoral processes and consolidating the rule of law, with a particular focus on gender equality Concept Note.
The workshop brings together 35 participants from the Platform of Civil Society Organisations, National Coalition of Moral Authorities for Mediation (CONAMM), the National Human Rights Commission (CNDH) and the Permanent Secretariat responsible for implementing the National Action Plan 1325, with significant representation of women within each structure Concept note.
During the workshop, participants explored the four pillars of Resolution 1325 — participation, protection, prevention and recovery — and also examined complementary resolutions, notably Resolution 1820 and Resolution 2242. Discussions focus on integrating a gender perspective into the prevention and mediation of community, socio-political and electoral conflicts Concept note.
Using a participatory methodology — group work, case studies, simulations and presentation of organisations' strategic plans — participants identify barriers to women's participation and develop concrete actions to strengthen the alignment between their strategies and the National Action Plan 1325 Concept note.
Particular emphasis is also placed on coordination, monitoring and reporting to ensure the sustainable implementation of commitments.
As the training draws to a close, it already marks an important milestone in the national ownership of the Women, Peace and Security agenda, reaffirming the commitment of PAPPE and the European Union to inclusive peace and strengthened female leadership in Chad.
