Following the successful completion of the Leadership and Conflict Management Skills for Electoral Stakeholders (LEAD) Training of Trainers, the first cascade training session was delivered in Baalbeck under the framework of the Inclusive Democratic Participation project. This initiative is jointly implemented by our organization and the Arab Center for the Rule of Law and Integrity (ACRLI), reflecting a shared commitment to strengthening democratic governance and civic engagement across Lebanon.

LEAD is a dynamic and highly interactive training programme designed to enhance leadership capacities and equip electoral stakeholders with practical, field-tested tools to prevent, manage, and mitigate conflict. The programme promotes peaceful dialogue, inclusive participation, and constructive engagement throughout electoral processes. By focusing on real-life scenarios and participatory learning methods, LEAD empowers participants to address challenges proactively and contribute to more transparent and credible democratic practices.

A core strength of the programme lies in its cascade training (multiplier) approach, whereby individuals who complete the Training of Trainers pass on their knowledge and skills to others within their communities and networks. This model ensures sustainability, local ownership, and wider outreach—extending the impact of the programme beyond the initial training room and into grassroots communities.

The Baalbeck session was led by ECES-certified trainer Aous Qutaishat, who facilitated an engaging and hands-on learning experience for youth leaders and civil society actors. Participants developed practical competencies in leadership, dialogue facilitation, conflict resolution, electoral justice, and voter education. Through group exercises, simulations, and collaborative discussions, they explored ways to manage tensions, build trust, and encourage constructive civic participation.

By cascading this knowledge within their communities, participants play a vital role in fostering more inclusive, resilient, and peaceful democratic participation across Lebanon. Their efforts contribute not only to strengthening electoral integrity but also to building a culture of dialogue and cooperation that supports long-term democratic development.
