The project “Inclusive Democratic Participation: Enhancing Education, Engagement, and Oversight in Lebanon” is a 24-month initiative (total budget: 524,543 EUR, 95% of which is funded by the European Union) aimed at strengthening democratic values and inclusive participation in Lebanon. Implemented by the Arab Centre for the Development of the Rule of Law and Integrity (ACRLI) as lead applicant and ECES as co-applicant, the project aims to promote more transparent, participatory and representative democratic governance.
The initiative focuses on strengthening civil society organisations (CSOs) and electoral stakeholders through capacity-building activities, democratic education, awareness-raising campaigns and support for electoral legislative reforms. The project aims to improve the integrity and transparency of electoral processes, promote the political participation of women, young people and marginalised groups, and encourage greater civic engagement in the democratic debate.
ECES implements activities under Objective 2 of the project, dedicated to strengthening the capacities of electoral stakeholders, through the development of training curricula, training of trainers (ToT), LEAD programmes on leadership and conflict prevention, and targeted workshops for civil society organisations, election observers and political representatives. The activities are tailored to the Lebanese context and designed to support the electoral process ahead of the parliamentary elections scheduled for 2026.
The project also involves conducting legal studies and formulating recommendations for electoral reform, running advocacy and awareness-raising campaigns, organising national conferences, and establishing coordination mechanisms with other institutional and international cooperation actors active in the field of democratic governance in Lebanon.
