We are proud to present the new publication describing the support of the Federal Republic of Germany to Electoral Processes in Africa via activities implemented by us, the European Centre for Electoral Support, with the specific cases of Burkina Faso, Senegal, Ethiopia and Nigeria.

The funding received from Germany follows the Team Europe approach established in the EU’s Joint Communication on the Global EU response to COVID-19  that underlines the importance of joint initiatives between the EU and EU member states.

The communication was published on 8 April 2020 and undersigned by the European Parliament, the Council, the European Economic and Social Committee, and the Committee of the Regions.

The financial support provided by the Federal Republic of Germany to four of ECES' projects in Africa includes: the European Response to Electoral Cycle Support in Ethiopia (EURECS Ethiopia); the Prevention of Election Violence and Education for Inclusion in Nigeria (PEV-EDI); the Project in Support to the Democratisation Process in the Republic of Senegal (PAPE Senegal) and the Support of the Credibility and Transparency of Elections in Burkina Faso (PACTE-BF).

In the new German brochure, you can check the project launched in Ethiopia: the European Response to the Electoral Cycle Support in Ethiopia – Plus (EURECS +).

The project complements the existing projects implemented by ECES in Ethiopia as part of the EU democratic package, funded by the European Union and Germany (via the German Development Bank - KFW).

All projects are implemented following ECES' copyrighted methodology "A European Response to Electoral Cycle Support - EURECS", an innovative and alternative delivery mechanism to implement electoral and democracy assistance activities that are consistent with European values and EU policies and targets the implementations of the recommendations of EU election observation missions and it is built to help prevent, mitigate and manage electoral related conflicts.
