For the presidential election on 12 April 2025, an election observation mission by Gabonese civil society organisations has been deployed with the support of the Civil Society and Media Support Project in Gabon (PACEM), funded by the European Union and implemented by the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES).
This Gabonese CSO mission (MOE_OSCs) was deployed in coordination and synergy with two other observation missions, namely that of the Citizen Observer Network (ROC) and the NGO Tournons La Page (TLP). This initiative represents an important step in strengthening democratic processes and promoting transparency and accountability in the Gabonese electoral landscape.
The coordination of the three missions organised a press conference to launch the mission on 10 April 2025 at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Libreville. This launch event provided an opportunity to present the composition, organisation, methodology and deployment strategy of the observers throughout the country. By establishing a common framework for action, the three missions reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening democratic engagement and contributing to the credibility of the elections in Gabon.
In this broader context, the PACEM project plays an essential role in supporting the capacity building and autonomy of Gabonese civil society actors. More specifically, it provides direct support to the Civil Society Organisation Election Observation Mission (MOE_OSCs Gabon) in the observation of the presidential election on 12 April 2025. Through technical, logistical and strategic support, this initiative aims to further professionalise domestic observation and encourage active citizen participation and greater democratic control of the electoral process.
