At the request of the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE), the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) are jointly organizing a three-day BRIDGE/LEAD training from 16 to 18 July 2025. This tailored workshop brings together NEBE senior staff and the three newly appointed board members to strengthen institutional leadership and foster professional development within the electoral body.

The training aims to enhance NEBE’s capacity to lead with integrity, uphold democratic values, and promote transparent and inclusive electoral processes. Participants will engage with five key thematic areas critical to effective electoral governance:

1. International Electoral Obligations
Participants will examine the legal and normative frameworks that underpin democratic elections, with a focus on international standards and best practices.

2. The Electoral Cycle Approach
The training emphasizes that elections are not isolated events, but rather part of a continuous cycle that includes planning, implementation, evaluation, and reform.

3. Electoral Integrity and Public Trust
Special attention is given to NEBE’s role in safeguarding the integrity of electoral processes, promoting transparency, and strengthening public confidence in democratic institutions.

4. Institutional Excellence and Organizational Culture
Participants will reflect on the role of each civil servant in building a strong, ethical, and inclusive institutional culture that values collaboration, accountability, and personal well-being.

5. Leadership and Stakeholder Engagement
The workshop will also strengthen participants' leadership capacities, equipping them to engage constructively with stakeholders, foster meaningful partnerships, and lead transformative change within NEBE.

This capacity-building initiative reaffirms the shared commitment of NEBE, UNDP, and ECES to democratic consolidation and effective electoral administration in Ethiopia.
