On Friday, June 20, and Saturday, June 21, 2025, in the framework of our PRO-Election Bolivia project, an intensive workshop was held on Artificial Intelligence (AI) for civil society organisations, focusing on its strategic use in electoral observation and communication. The activity was sponsored by the European Centre for Electoral Support (ECES) in association with our Bolivian strategic partner Fundación Construir, in fulfilment of our joint mission to support a more integral, transparent, and inclusive Bolivian 2025/26 electoral process. We were honoured to have the active participation of our CSO strategic partners: Fundación CONSTRUIR, ARU, and the Bolivian Platform for Human Rights, Democracy, and Development, who significantly contributed to the content development and exchange of experiences.
Over the two days, Professor Luis Rodriguez from the University of Cochabamba delivered theoretical sessions combined with practical exercises aimed at understanding the potential of AI in collecting, analysing, and visualising electoral data. Participants explored accessible tools for automated media monitoring, generating early warnings, structuring observation reports, and predictive risk analysis. The course promoted the ethical, responsible, and strategic use of these technologies, reaffirming civil society’s commitment to protecting political rights and strengthening democratic integrity in Bolivia.
