Voter sensitisation in Madagascar
In December 2012, ECES and the Electoral Institute for the Sustainability of Democracy in Africa (EISA) signed a partnership agreement to collaborate on contributing to a participatory and peaceful process of voter sensitisation in Madagascar. The aim of the 6 months EU funded project was to work with and encourage the direct involvement of civil society organisations in raising awareness, informing and mobilising the citizens of Madagascar with regard to the different stages of voter registration for the 2013 general elections .
More specifically ECES and EISA collaborated to:
- Develop awareness material and ensure that it conveys consistent and reliable information on the different stages of voter registration.
- Ensure the availability of information on the various stages of enrollment nationally, and
- Mobilise citizens to participate actively in the various stages of the registration process.
