PACTE Guinea

ECES is proud to announce the signing of the second Programme of Support to the credibility and transparency of elections in the Republic of Guinea (PACT II) in Conakry (Orig.: Programme d’Appui à la Crédibilité et à la Transparence des Elections en République de Guinée  (PACTE II). The signing ceremony took place, on 18 December, at the premises of the European Union in Guinea in the presence of Dominique Weerts, ECES representative in Guinea, and His Excellency,  Gielen Gerardus, Ambassador of the European Union to the Republic of Guinea.  The project is fully funded by the European Union and has as overall objective, on one hand, strengthening of stakeholders’ capacities contributing to Guinea's democratization process and, on other hand, strengthening the newly installed democratic institutions of the Republic.

 

PACTE II comes to strengthen the results already achieved by the first Programme of Support to the credibility and transparency of elections in the Republic of Guinea (PACTE-Guinee) in Conakry (Orig.: Programme d’Appui à la Crédibilité et à la Transparence des Elections en République de Guinée  (PACTE II).

 

The project will be implemented for 15 months starting from December 2015. Some of the expected results include: strengthening the capacity of democratic institutions; support to media, to the civil society in achieving their mission of civic raising awareness and information and contribution to reducing potential conflicts.

 

PACTE-Guinée will  have as main beneficiaries:  the Media, the Press House, the Ombudsman of the Republic, the National Assembly (AN), the Independent National Institute for Human Rights (INIDH), the High Authority for Communication (HAC), the High Council of Local Governments (HCCL), Hirondelle Foundation (FH), the Constitutional Court (CC), the Guinean Association of Political Science (GAPS), civil society and the branches of the National Council of the Civil Society Organisations (CNOSC), the Courts of First Instance, Justice of Peace, and the citizens and the population as a whole.
