Start of the LEAD Training of Trainers, Burkina Faso

The “Project to Support the Credibility and Transparency of Elections in Burkina Faso” ("Projet d’Appui à la Crédibilité et à la Transparence des Elections au Burkina Faso" - PACTE-BF) organizes from 6 to 13 July 2015, a Training of Trainers on Leadership and Conflict Management for Electoral Stakeholders (LEAD). The Chairman of INEC, Mr. Bartholomew Kéré opened the Training along with Mrs. Deborah Alima Traore in the presence of representatives of the National Transitional Council (NTC), the Gendarmerie forces, the Police and the technical and financial partners of the project.

The Chairman of INEC, Mr. Bartholomew Kéré reminded the participants of the importance of this training a few months upfront of the elections aimed to overcome the transitional period; and stressed out the objective of the LEAD program that is to strengthen the capacity of the electoral stakeholders in leadership in order to increase their confidence, and provide the necessary tools for decision-making and conflict management throughout the electoral cycle.

Following this training, 39 participants from 13 regions of the country, will become semi-LEAD certified trainers. They will, in turn, train in their respective regions, a group of 30 electoral stakeholders. These new trainings, known as "cascades", will be under the supervision of the LEAD certified trainers to ensure the quality of the content provided during the trainings and the consistency of message delivered on the entire territory. This step will also allow new trainers to complete the process and to be fully certified. The training in regions will start on July 20 and will take place for two weeks.

Following this intensive training process, Burkina Faso can count on a pool of 39 LEAD certified trainers and 420 people trained on leadership and conflict management. These trainers can  independently duplicate this training in the future.
