The European Centre for Electoral Support – ECES along with its partners Go Innovation under the PEV-Ethiopia project funded by the European Union, conducted a two-day Leadership and Conflict Management Skills for Electoral Stakeholders training in the city of Arba Minch in Southern Ethiopia.
Assisting non-state actors (NSA) in addressing root causes of political and election related violence and conflict plays a key role in preventing, mitigating and managing conflicts that may arise during the electoral cycle, to this regard, 38 Representatives chosen from civil society organizations that work for change at a grassroots level within their communities completed the two-day LEAD workshop from February 9-10 2021.
Following the LEAD workshop, another two-day dialogue session with the inter-religious councils and traditional elders of the southern region took place from February 11-12 2021. 40 participants took part in the dialogue sessions, where they exchanged knowledge and experiences highlighting their roles in the peacebuilding process.
