On the 28th of September 2021, Fabio Bargiacchi, Founder and Executive Director of ECES, and King Dr Tchiffi Zie Jean Gervais, Founder of United Kingdoms of Africa Association (UKAA) and Secretary General of Permanent Forum of Sovereigns and Traditional Leaders of Africa, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aimed at consolidating their comprehensive partnership in the areas of Electoral Integrity, Prevention of Electoral Conflicts, Human Rights and Women Political Participation.
The UKAA, officially formed in 2015, is a political social development advocacy platform that acts as a unified voice of civil society. It works in support of national presidencies and governments, institutions, and citizens to support the national development plans of African governments, the African Union's Agenda 2063, and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. It includes the official endorsement of 535 Kings, Sultans, Sheiks, and other Traditional Leaders in Africa via the Forum of Sovereigns and Traditional Leaders that was formed in 2008, who collectively represent the voices of nearly one billion people on the African Continent.
This MoU intends to further strengthen the cooperation between the Participants in Africa in the promotion of free, fair, transparent, democratic and credible elections; mitigation and prevention of electoral related violence, and the promotion of inclusive democratic processes targeting women and youth political participation, in line with their respective decision-making processes.
