We had an interview session with His Excellency Raila A. Odinga, leader of the Azimio Coalition and candidate in the 2022 presidential elections in Kenya for our upcoming film-documentary titled Kenya‘s Democratic Journey. H.E Raila Odinga has been a presidential candidate five times and was a former prime minister of Kenya from the year 2008-2013. On March 2018, he made a handshake with former president of Kenya Uhuru Kenyatta to put aside their political differences and to be united.
In the interview, he spoke about how the youth get involved and motivated into the democratic and electoral process and the lessons that Africa can learn from the journey on reforms and institutional development on the conduct of elections in Kenya, as well as his vision for Kenya among other topics. We have also requested H.E President William Ruto for an interview and we hope to interview him soon.
Kenya’s Democratic Journey film-documentary comes in the footsteps of our successful joint collaboration with Urban Republic and director Jarreth Merz in producing and distributing the documentary “An African Election”, The movie that follows the 2008 presidential elections in Ghana, West Africa, which has been used in many of our Leadership and Conflict Management trainings since 2012. The main objective of this documentary is to generate a lessons-learned resource following the conclusion of the August 2022 General Elections. The documentary will serve as a tool for the future training of political stakeholders, civil society, electoral bodies, election observers and the general public, promoting peace, tolerance and unity across the country and beyond.
