We are proud to have started our global collaboration with the Arma dei Carabinieri.
From the 14th to the 17th of November, in the framework of our Pro Peace Kenya Project, two trainers of the Carabinieri participated in one of our Leadership and Conflict Management Skills for Electoral Stakeholders (LEAD) with a specific focus on the security of elections and polling stations.
The LEAD training saw the participation of high-level members of the Independent Election and Boundaries Commission (IEBC), the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC), the Office of the Register of Political Parties, the Political Parties Liaison Committee, the Ombudsman office, and the Elections Observation Group (ELOG).
The Carabinieri Corps are a gendarmery-type force permanently enforcing public security. It fully contributes to the "external defence" and "external security" systems of Italy. As an armed force, the organization participates in international peacekeeping and security missions and carries out military police functions within the Italian armed forces. As a police force, the Corps carries out all activities to maintain public order and security, territorial control, public order services, and protection of community interests. In the case of public disasters, the Carabinieri guarantees order and security services and rescue activities, as a national civil protection operative structure. The civil protection tasks, in the event of disasters, are carried out in coordination with the Department of Civil Protection within the Presidency of the Council of Ministers. Moreover, the Carabinieri plays a major role in guaranteeing the security of elections in Italy, at the presidential, parliamentary, regional and municipal levels.
We are proud to start this collaboration with the Carabinieri and their history of support in Italy and abroad. Their knowledge and experience in the field will be an important plus for our training in other countries.
