The ECES family wishes a Happy International Youth Day to all young women and men around the world.
Youth constitute a cornerstone of most of our projects worldwide, as we strongly believe that empowering youth to express themselves and take action is conducive to sustainable, fair and peaceful democracies.
The International Youth Day was established in 1999 by the UN General Assembly, with the aim of “celebrating and mainstreaming young peoples’ voices, actions and initiatives, as well as their meaningful, universal and equitable engagement”.
This year’s theme “Youth Engagement for Global Action” seeks to highlight the ways in which the engagement of young people at the local, national and global levels is enriching national and multilateral institutions and processes, as well as draw lessons on how their representation and engagement in formal institutional politics can be significantly enhanced, according to the UN event's webpage.
