LEAD Cascade Training, Burkina Faso
Within the framework of the Project PACTE-BF (Projet d’Appui à la Crédibilité et à la Transparence des Elections au Burkina Faso), six Cascade Trainings on Leadership and Conflict Management for Electoral Stakeholders (LEAD) were organized from 19 to 23 July 2015. Each training was attended averagely by thirty participants.
The overall objective of the LEAD training is to strengthen the capacities of the electoral stakeholders in leadership, increase their trust capital and provide the necessary tools for decision making, and conflict management throughout the electoral cycle.
Following the LEAD Training of Trainers, held in Ouagadougou from 6 to 13 July 2015, the first six LEAD training cascade are underway simultaneously in six regions of Burkina Faso: Bobo-Dioulasso (Region of the High Basins), Tenkodogo (Central Region), Banfora (Region Cascades), Dédougou (Region Mouhoun), Dori (Sahel region) and Ziniaré (Central Plateau Region).
These first six LEAD trainings will be followed in the period – 26 to 30 July 2015 - by six other trainings covering all the regions of Burkina Faso, with the exception of the Central Region (Ouagadougou). One last LEAD Training is scheduled for 10 to 14 August 2015. This LEAD Training will conclude a period of intensive trainings ahead of the Presidential and Legislative elections of October 11, 2015.
Out of the 39 semi-certified trainers trained in Ouagadougou in early July, fourteen are actively engaged as co-facilitators in the on-going cascade trainings, under the supervision of 6 LEAD certifying trainers, in order to ensure the quality of the content of the training, the coherence and consistency of the message disseminated throughout the territory of Burkina Faso.
The cascade training will also enable new trainers to complete the process and to be fully certified.
Following this intensive training process, consisting of LEAD Training of Trainers and 13 Cascade Trainings, Burkina Faso can count on a "pool" of at least 35 LEAD certified trainers and at least 390 people trained in Leadership and Conflict Management. To ensure sustainability and full appropriation of the trainings by the Burkinabe partners, the successive trainings will lead to form a pool of at least three LEAD certifying trainers; trainers that will be able, independently, to duplicate this training in the future - in Burkina Faso or worldwide.
Implemented in the context of the electoral process of closing the political and institutional transition in Burkina Faso, PACTE-BF project aims to contribute to the holding of credible, transparent and peaceful elections through the capacity building of electoral stakeholders. Specifically the project provides technical and operational support to the INEC of Burkina Faso and its branches and contributes to long-term capacity building of the institutions.
PACTE-BF Project is funded by the European Union, the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, the Republic of Austria, the Federal Republic of Germany, the French Republic and the Kingdom of Denmark.
